The Princess and the Postman
(A street. Some litter, but the street sweeper has recently gone by, so not a lot. Maybe, like, a few cigarette butts or something. A large Victorian house is being painted blue by a middle-aged Slavic man. A mailbox reads "Thompsons".)
(At rise: JENNY, a woman with a pink dress and purse, walks by nonchalantly. She is carrying a stack of papers. She looks busy, tired, but ready for work. She has a mystical quality in her smile, but throughout the scene, she does not smile once. She drops a piece of paper.)
(POSTMAN, a 34-year-old former mail room clerk at the marketing firm of Simms and Forebush, walks by with a sizeable load of mail. He picks up the piece of paper, offers it to JENNY.)
Jenny: Thanks.
(POSTMAN says nothing. JENNY goes to work. Somewhere, a school bell rings twice.)
(Blackout.)
